I Loved Almond Joys
Can I get a show of hands… how amazing is the combination of chocolate, coconut and almonds? Yeah, I know all too well how good they taste together! Almond Joys are so delicious, I definitely used to pound a dozen back every Halloween (ooops). Almond joys were, by far, my favorite chocolate candy of all time! And I say they WERE because now that I know how much JUNK is in an almond joy, I can’t bring myself to eat them anymore. There’s also a crazy 8 grams of sugar in one tiny, fun-sized packaged! 5 fun-sized pieces of candy and your set back a whopping 40 grams – as much sugar as a full can of soda!
So what’s a girl to do? Give up my favorite candy? Heck no! I just made my own instead. As a matter of fact, the recipe couldn’t be SIMPLER. Coconut. Chocolate. Almond Butter. Spoon. Repeat.
Ingredients in a Hershey’s Almond Joy:
CORN SYRUP; MILK CHOCOLATE [SUGAR; COCOA BUTTER; CHOCOLATE; MILK; LACTOSE; MILK FAT; NONFAT MILK; LECITHIN (SOY); PGPR (EMULSIFIER)]; COCONUT; SUGAR; ALMONDS (ROASTED IN SUNFLOWER OIL); CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF: VEGETABLE OIL (PALM KERNEL AND PALM OIL); COCOA; WHEY (MILK); SALT; HYDROLYZED MILK PROTEIN; LECITHIN (SOY); SODIUM METABISULFITE (TO MAINTAIN FRESHNESS)
Ummmmmm. YUCK! Move over candy, I have almond butter to eat.
